Fulfilling a dream

After five years of teaching college students the Fundamentals of Speech Communication, I am certain that the years I put in to get my Master's and Doctoral degrees were worth every minute. I am proud to say that my students learn the basics of scholarly writing and academic research in my classes.

The upside of teaching is that I get to exhibit several personalities, including the caring professor, the pedagog, the taskmaster, the influencer, the mind opener, and the BEAST of APA Style.

So, I get to teach until I am 80, if I am lucky. I get to cultivate young minds and earn a living! That is a wonderful thing!

She's a Doctor

Throughout her life, Diva JC studied hard to attain academic degrees to complement her musical and literary talents. In August 2017, she graduated from Northcentral University, where she studied for six years for her Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) with an emphasis on Marketing.

Aside from that, Dr. Cartwright was a professor of Speech Communication at three South Florida institutions and one foreign university. Her transition from the stage for 40+ years to the classroom was successful on many levels. First, the income is comparable, if not a little higher. The audience is more in need of her wisdom, information, and guidance. Teaching is less stressful than performance.

Needless to say, Dr. Cartwright has ascended from #DivaJC to #DrDivaJC

5-Year Plan

Generally, when we plan our next move, we must reflect on where we have been and what we have done. Several times in my life, I've recounted my achievements by creating a web page on my website. This page tells the story of the past 10 years of my life - www.fyicomminc.com/diva/divajc.htm.

What I plan for the next five years includes but is not limited to:
  1. Completing my doctoral degree in Business Marketing by January 2016
  2. Securing an income that will render me financially free
  3. Building my travel business at www.fyitravel.biz and www.fyitravel.us
  4. Marketing my books to schools and universities
  5. Lecturing around the world on the importance of the messages in women's music
  6. Opening an Archive of Women's Music with a theater and staff of 30 professionals
  7. Building a home that will afford me a comfortable and secure life.
Patience, perseverance, and determination are the keywords for success.

Travel Expenses to Italy

Anyone who really knows me knows my favorite place to travel to is Italy. Now, I have the opportunity to sit at the table with astute women composers and musicians in Fiuggi, Italy, at the WIMUST Conference July 4-7, 2013. All I need is an airline ticket to get there.

Help me raise funds for my ticket to Rome from Miami by donating at GOFUNDME

Like Bette Midler, "I can get by with a little help from my friends!"

Thanks in advance for your support.

Fundraising Projects

Since the State of Florida cut its cultural budget from $34 million to $9 million, South Florida musicians have had to scramble for income. So, I designed two methods to raise money for my non-profit's projects:

  1. Amazing Musicwomen Tour
  2. Joan in Rome in July for the WIMUST Conference
My paper, Conscious Inclusion of Women MusiciansPUBLISHED at Versita, discusses the marginalization of women musicians. WIMUST means Women in Music using Strategies for Talent.  The 2012 WIMUST Report supported the contention that women musicians are not being hired to perform or commissioned to write music, even through public funding. This is an outrage, since women pay 53% of taxes on the planet. From July 4-7 2013, Fondazione Adkins-Chiti will host the WIMUST Conference in Fiuggi, Italy. I'm invited but I must raise funds for my flight. You can support my efforts by donating at GOFUNDME.

Our Amazing Musicwomen Ensemble performed once in February and once in March.

We need to work. We should be working 3-5 times a month! There are plenty of venues. We need $2,500 per show. So, the crowdfunding method is the way to go, today.

Please share with others.
Thanks
